Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration–Twin Cities Harvest Moon China Garden Abiding Love

Twin Cities Harvest Moon China Garden Abiding Love is a large-scale annual brand-name outdoor Mid-Autumn Festival celebration event launched and created by ASANE and co-organized by Minnesota China Friendship Garden Society since fall 2021.  

Each year, this all-day annual event takes place around Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival time at Phalen Park in St Paul where the China Friendship Garden is located. The theme of this large event is to celebrate the Chinese Moon Festival, promote the China Friendship Garden Liu Ming Yuan and Chinese culture, Chinese holiday culture in particular. The event depicts the theme of family reunion and togetherness, community bonding and harmony, cultural and friendship exchanges and the joyful spirit of the autumn harvest.  It contains several key segments such as “5K Fun Run”, “Complimentary Photography”, “Artistic Performances”, “4 Language Poetry Contest Awards”, “Chinese Calligraphy/Paintings Displays”, “Gourmet Foods and Mooncake Tasting” and “Informational and Cultural Booths”.

The core portion of this large-scale event is “Artistic Performances”. This portion has become quite popular and well received. The professional artists, performers, performing groups and schools from the local Chinese community, Dakota community, Hmong community, Indian community, Vietnamese community, and Laotian community as well as mainstream society are invited to perform for the audience for 4 to 6 hours. The performers’ colorful costumes and joyful singing, dancing and instrumental playing have become memorable scenes for this event.   

Over the years, this fun packed, family oriented all day event has been attended by thousands of people who come from different walks of life in the Twin Cities area and in Minnesota. Some attendees travel as far as Rochester and Duluth Minnesota and Wisconsin to attend this event, general media in the Twin Cities has also covered the event.
