Minnesota Chinese World – MNCW, established on November 15, 2015, is a registered nonprofit organization and the leading Chinese language online platform in Minnesota.

Since 2015, Minnesota Chinese World has been an advocate, participant and volunteer in public welfare causes in the Chinese community in Minnesota. It has reported and published a large amount of information about Minnesota covering culture, history, business, science and technology, life, tourism, entertainment, local customs, important news as well as current affairs, large-scale public welfare activities, cultural life and related information concerning the greater Minnesota community and local Chinese community.

Minnesota Chinese World also provides and shares major news and high-quality articles about China, the US and the world. It not only has a wide influence in Minnesota, but it is also well liked by the readers in China,

Minnesota Chinese World currently boasting many loyal Chinese-speaking readers in both China and the United States. Minnesota Chinese World regularly publishes electronic editions on a weekly basis.

Minnesota Chinese World Milestones and Major Achievements

The Year of 2016

This was the year Minnesota Chinese World worked hard to demonstrate its dedication, commitment to its new readers, striving to establish its reputation and build up the readership through great works.

Throughout January to May, Minnesota Chinese World started to introduce different new columns such as “Minnesota News and Information”, Minnesota Stories”, “Minnesota Characters”, “Up Close to Minnesota”, each column offered different perspectives and timely news and events about Minnesota history, culture, geography and reported about the Chinese Community events, activities and great Twin Cities major news.

In May, Minnesota Chinese World launched its first annual “Charming Minnesota Photography Competition”, inviting Chinese community amateur photograph lovers to share the beauty of Minnesota through their eyes and camera lenses. Two professional top-notch photographers in China were invited to be the judges. Over 70 enthusiastic respondents participated in this event. Several years later, some of these photographers arouse to become the famous photographers in the local Chinese community and the greater Twin Cities area.

The Year of 2017

In January, Minnesota Chinese World participated in the organization and planning of the first Chinese New Year celebration in the Mall of America.

In February, Minnesota Chinese World participated in the organization of the “Festival of Spring, Timbre of Bamboo”, a special Chinese New Year Concert, presented by Beijing Bamboo Orchestra at Mall of America in Minnesota. Concurrently, Minnesota Chinese World also successfully participated in the organization and planning of “Festival of Spring Beauty of Jiangxi”, a large-scale Chinese New Year gala in the Twin Cities presented by Jiangxi Artistic Group from Jiangxi, China.

In May, Minnesota Chinese World organized and participated in the first “2017 China Zhongshan City and Minnesota Twin Cities Talent Recruitment Conference” in the Twin Cities. The conference provided a good opportunity for China and the United States to highlight Minnesota’s high-tech talents and advanced technologies.

In September, Minnesota Chinese World, together with the Chinese American Business Association of Minnesota (CABAM), participated in the organization and promotion of “Shangdong Gourmet Food Minnesota Night” in the Twin Cities.

In October, Minnesota Chinese World co-organized and participated in the large-scale Mid-Autumn Festival celebration activity “Cultural China: Minnesota Moon-Longing for Home” in the Twin Cities.

From December 2017 to the present, Minnesota Chinese World has actively helped Minnesota China Friendship Garden Society in promoting the establishment of the St. Paul-Changsha Sister City Friendship project “Liu Ming Yuan” at Phalen Park in St. Paul.

The Year of 2018

In February, Minnesota Chinese World and other major local Chinese groups participated in the organization and planning of another Chinese New Year gala “A Chinese Celebration with Guangdong Charm”.

In August, Minnesota Chinese World participated in the organization and planning of the overseas premiere event of the “Greatest Spirit”, a poetic song and dance drama performed by the Sichuan Song and Dance Theater.

The Year of 2019

Minnesota Chinese World planned and hosted the “A Rainbow of Rhythms-Chinese New Year Concert”. This concert was the first in the history of the local Chinese community to be performed by professional Chinese musicians in the United States.

In July 2019, Minnesota Chinese World was awarded the title of “Best Media” in an awards ceremony by Minnesota China Friendship Garden Society for its outstanding work in the promotion of the Chinese Friendship Garden “Liu Ming Yuan”.

The Year of 2020

This was a special year of the pandemic. In February, Minnesota Chinese World participated in the promotion of “Qin Ji China, China Come On! Charity Concert” in the Twin Cities hosted by Professor Tang Beihua’s, a former University of Minnesota student, to actively promote and publicize this charity event to raise money for the victims of Covid-19.

From March to May, Minnesota Chinese World collaborated with the Chinese American Business Association of Minnesota (CABAM) to actively raise funds and collect anti-epidemic products in the local Chinese community and donate thousands of masks to relevant domestic hospitals and Minnesota nursing homes. In addition, Minnesota Chinese World also donated money to Minnesota International Chinese School, Edina Chinese Association-ECA and Seagate Chinese Association in supporting their efforts.

In October, Minnesota Chinese World participated in promoting and organizing the charity artistic and cultural brand event of Global Star Mid-Autumn Festival Virtual Gala” hosted by Global Star Alliance. The large-scale global online event attracted a large number overseas Chinese audience and achieved great success.

During the same month, Minnesota Chinese World participated in the promotional work of “Qian Xu Ying 10th Student Concert and 2020 Mid-Autumn Concert” in the Twin Cities. The concert was a resounding success, generating over 10,0000 overseas Chinese viewers in Minnesota, US and the audience in China. Among them, some 20,000 excited viewers shared online their impressive and complimentary remarks.

The Year of 2021

In February, Minnesota Chinese World participated in the promotion and reporting of “Farewell to the Old Year and Open a New Chapter” 2021 Happy Chinese New Year Virtual Celebration in the history of the Minnesota Chinese community.

In March, Minnesota Chinese World co-planned with ASANE a timely and highly meaningful “Blowing the Whistle” campaign. This campaign was launched in the aftermath of the six Asian women who were slain by a white shooter in Atlanta, US, causing a massive outcry in the US Asian Americans communities. The purpose of this campaign was to raise the awareness of protection of Asian’s lives and prevent Asian hatred crime. Both organizations distributed 1,300 whistles in various Asian supermarkets in the Twin Cities areas.
